John DiMaio (center) takes the oath of office

John DiMaio (center) takes the oath of office to become a
Warren County Freeholder. With him are (l-r) his wife, Gina,
and daughters Sierra and Brittani.
Administering the oath is his father-in-law,
Belvidere Mayor Ainsworth M. Scott.

John DiMaio was sworn in Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, to an unexpired term on the Warren County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Surrounded by his wife, Gina, and daughters Sierra and Brittani, Freeholder DiMaio was sworn in by his father-in-law, Belvidere Mayor Ainsworth M. Scott.

The 45-year-old DiMaio is a former Hackettstown mayor, serving nine years in that position and 11 years on the Hackettstown Council. He was selected at a Republican Party convention to fill the unexpired term of former Freeholder Susan Dickey, who resigned from the board after being elected Warren County Surrogate.

"One of the things my father always taught me is to do things fairly, to treat people right and just use your common sense," DiMaio said after taking the oath of office at the start of the freeholder board meeting.

DiMaio's term expires Dec. 31, 2001.
