Michael J. Doherty took the oath of office at the Warren County Board of Chosen Freeholders' annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 1, 2001. With his wife, Linda, holding the Bible, Doherty was sworn in for a three-year term by Superior Court Judge Harry Seybolt.

In unanimous votes, Freeholder John DiMaio was named the board's director for 2001, while Doherty was named deputy director.

Also sworn in during the freeholder meeting was former freeholder Susan Dickey, who took the oath of office for a five-year term as Warren County Surrogate. Dickey resigned from the freeholder board in December after being elected surrogate, and DiMaio was named her replacement at a Warren County Republican convention.

During the meeting, DiMaio presented Dickey with a plaque and clock in recognition of her service on the freeholder board from 1993 to 2000.
