WASHINGTON, NJ [February 25, 2005] – In a press release dated February 18, the Warren Hills Regional Board of Education announced that several students who attended a dance at Warren Hills High School on February 11 were stuck by a sharp object, alleged to be a pin. One of the students was tested and preliminary results were positive for Hepatitis C.

A confirmatory test was performed and on February 25 the results were negative for Hepatitis C.

On February 14, parents and students were informed about the incident and any student stuck during the dance was asked to report to the school nurse. Parents were also advised to contact their primary care physician to seek medical advice. Local police were notified and they have launched an investigation.

Any student who was stuck during the incident is strongly advised to notify the school nurse. We remind students who might have been affected to seek the advice of a physician for evaluation.

The school and the health department wish to thank the parents and students for their cooperation during this unfortunate incident.
