A comprehensive plan to guide Warren County’s future farmland preservation efforts is available for public review and comment.

In order to qualify for a Planning Incentive Grant under the new rules of the State Agriculture Development Committee, each county must prepare and have approved a Comprehensive Farmland Preservation Plan (FPP).

Part of that approval process is to have a series of public hearings and make a draft of the FPP available for comment. The county agency responsible for the development of the FPP and the required public hearings is the County Agriculture Development Board (CADB).

The CADB held public meetings on April 19, 2007 and June 21, 2007 regarding the plan, and received the final draft of the FPP at its September 20, 2007 meeting.

The Draft encompasses data on the land base of agriculture, the agriculture industry, land use planning, the preservation program and its future, economic development, natural resources, and the future of agriculture in Warren County. Also included are maps of the Agriculture Development Area (ADA), project areas and soil maps.

The public is invited to comment on the plan at the October 18, 2007 meeting of the CADB. There are four ways for the public to view the FPP.

  1. A copy is available for review at the Land Preservation Department office, 500 Mt. Pisgah Ave., Oxford, NJ.
  2. A copy may be purchased for $20 at that office while supplies last.
  3. An electronic copy may be obtained at that office by bringing a blank CD.
  4. The full plan is available by clicking here.
