(WHITE TWP.) –The Board of Chosen Freeholders appointed Warren County’s Planning Director to serve on the Pollution Control Financing Authority of Warren County (PCFAWC), the agency responsible for implementing the County’s solid waste management plan and operating Warren’s District Landfill and Recycling Center.
The freeholders said David K. Dech was a logical choice to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Harry R. Pool. The County’s Planning Director and Solid Waste Coordinator since 1995, Dech is responsible for development and review of solid waste plan amendments, and presents his findings to the Solid Waste Advisory Council (SWAC).
A Penn State graduate who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Studies, specializing in urban planning, Dech also holds a Master of Arts degree from Rutgers University in City and Regional Planning. He joined the Warren County Planning Department in 1988 as an assistant planner and was promoted to senior planner in 1992 before becoming the department’s director. |

"Perhaps some of the knowledge in solid waste planning that I accrued over the years will help set a future direction for the PCFA," Dech said. "I'll do the best to make the appropriate decisions for the citizens of the county, so they have a financially sound and environmentally responsible place to deposit their solid waste. I’ll also work to ensure that recycling is promoted in the county."
Freeholder Director and PCFAWC member Everett A. Chamberlain personally approached Dech hoping that he would be willing to serve on the Authority. Upon making the appointment official at the board’s July 25 meeting, Freeholder Deputy Director John DiMaio thanked Dech “for accepting this very difficult position.”
DiMaio added, “I think with his institutional knowledge of the solid waste management plan and SWAC, he’ll be an asset to work with the group of people on that board.”
Dech’s term is set to expire February 1, 2008. |
