The Warren County Public Health Nursing Agency is conducting a series of clinics to administer seasonal flu and pneumonia vaccines, including a “drive-up” clinic for residents with mobility issues.
The clinic – from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Route 31 North, Washington – will include “drive-up” vaccinations for people whose mobility issues would make it difficult for them to attend one of the other clinics. These residents won’t even have to leave their cars to receive their flu shot, as PHNA staff can administer it at the vehicle.
The location was specifically chosen to accommodate special needs. While the “drive-up” vaccinations are being offered, the building also is wheelchair accessible for residents who wish to attend the clinic indoors.
Pre-registration is not required for the Oct. 6 clinic or any of the other seasonal flu/pneumonia vaccine clinics, but information including fact sheets and consent forms for both the seasonal flu shot and the pneumonia vaccine are available here. A full list of all clinic dates and locations is available here.

Despite the fact that vaccines to prevent flu and pneumococcal pneumonia have been proven to be effective, many people in the United States die needlessly of these preventable diseases and their complications.
The pneumonia vaccine is recommended for people 65 years of age and older, any adult smoker or asthmatic 19 years of age and older, and also, anyone 2 – 64 years of age with long-term health problems, a disease/condition that lowers the body’s resistance to infection or someone who is taking a drug or treatment that does the same.
The season flu vaccine is available for $15 and the pneumonia vaccine costs $35. Only cash, personal check or the Traditional Medicare, Part B card are accepted for payment.
