Warren County will hold its 4th Annual Project Homeless Connect event at Hackettstown and Phillipsburg locations on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Project Homeless Connect is a one-day, one-stop event in which the community comes together to help those most in need. Individuals experiencing homelessness, or at risk of homelessness, are able to receive information on housing, emergency social service benefits, legal services, substance abuse, mental health, medical services and employment.

Lunch will be provided; flu shots, haircuts and personal hygiene items will be offered; and winter coats will be available. All services are offered free of charge.

Locations are Saint Philip and Saint James Church’s Mercy Hall, 430 South Main Street, Phillipsburg, and Trinity Methodist Church, 213 Main Street, Hackettstown.

Project Homeless Connect is a true community effort planned by staff of the Warren County Department of Human Services, members of the Human Services Advisory Council’s (HSAC) Housing Committee and Project Homeless Connect Subcommittee, and agency staff from Catholic Charities, NORWESCAP Food Bank, Family Promise, Warren County Division of Temporary Assistance and Social Services, Easter Seals, Operation Chill Out, United Way of Warren County, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Crisis Center, and others.

Also to be conducted is the Point in Time Count, which gives the human services community a snapshot view of an unduplicated count of the homeless population while providing information about individuals who are at risk of homelessness. This information becomes a valuable planning tool in developing federal and local strategies to end homelessness.

For more information on the Point in Time Count and Project Homeless Connect, please contact the Warren County Department of Human Services at (908) 475-6088.
