Recycling keeps useful materials out of the landfill, thus preserving disposal capacity. Recycling also saves energy and natural resources.
Practical steps to prevent additional waste from being generated on the home front can include these suggestions: |
- Reduce the amount of unnecessary packaging by buying the least packaged alternative, avoiding single serving containers; buying in bulk; etc.
- Adopt practices that reduce toxicity, such as substituting non-hazardous ingredients for chemical cleaners; using only the amount needed; donating leftovers; using household waste collection programs such as at the Warren County Recycling Center off at the Warren County Landfill on the Fourth Sunday in April and October.
- Consider reusable products, such as bags, mugs, utensils, tableware, refillable containers, rechargeable batteries, etc.
- Maintain and repair durable products.
- Repair, sell or donate goods, instead of throwing them out.
- Choose recyclable products and containers and recycle them. Select products from recyclable materials.

Telephone Book Recycling
Don’t allow old phone books to wind up in the landfill – recycle them instead.
Warren County residents and businesses can recycle old telephone books by taking them to the elementary schools in Belvidere, Blairstown, Knowlton, Harmony, Liberty and White Township. Telephone books also can be dropped off at the Hope Township Municipal Building.
There are containers set up outside these buildings for this purpose each year during the month of March.
This project helps preserve the environment and benefits local participating schools.
For more information, please contact the Warren County Recycling Coordinator at (908) 475-6532 or (908) 859-4553.
