The infant receives coverage for one year from the date of birth. New Jersey Care also provides coverage for adults over the age of 65 and disabled adults in the community.

  • Family Care- provides free or low-cost health coverage for uninsured children and teens 18 or younger. NJ FamilyCare is not a welfare program; it offers full health coverage through several recognized Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs). NJ FamilyCare covers doctor visits, eyeglasses, hospitalization, lab tests, x-rays, prescriptions, regular checkups, mental health, and in most circumstances dental. For many children, there are no monthly premiums or co-payments. Some children from higher income families may be required to pay a small co-payment or monthly premium.
